We arrived in Saugatuck, Michigan this afternoon. We're here for a long weekend. It's a small town that sits between the Kalamazoo River and Lake Michigan. The town just oozes charm. It seriously looks like something out of a movie. It's bordered by Douglas, an equally-adorable town, that's just across the river.
We had dinner tonight at Everyday People Cafe, a wonderful restaurant in Douglas. The food was so good -- incredible soup, delicious bread and divinely-fresh fish. After dinner, the girls played on a playground across the street and then we stopped by the cabin to grab a jacket and then we went to Saugatuck, where we walked around, listened to live music, admired some beautiful boats, watched them make fudge through the window and got ice cream for the girls.
It stays light really late here -- love that! -- so we enjoyed the beautiful, long evening.
This is going to be a great weekend.
What a lovely town!
ReplyDeleteNext time you come to Michigan, you've got to drive just a wee bit further north to Holland (about 10 minutes). You'd love the shops on 8th St. in Holland. Yummy restaurants, too! Summer is the best time in Michigan, isn't it? :)
