Early this morning, from 2:15 a.m. to 4:10 a.m. to be exact, we were sitting in our car in the driveway. It was just a few degrees outside, even less with the windchill, and while Kenna and Michal watched "Eloise" on the car's DVD player, and Eric watched something on the iPad, I tried unsuccessfully to sleep in the front seat.
We were in our driveway, instead of sleeping in our beds, because I smelled gas. I woke Eric up and we proceeded to sniff our way around our house asking each other, "Do you smell gas?" more times than I can count. We finally called the gas company, who advised us to not turn on lights, to not hang up the phone and to immediately leave the house.
So I woke up the girls, wrapped them in blankets and we waited in the car.
They told us someone would be there in an hour. An hour and forty-five minutes later they finally arrived and proceeded to check for gas leaks.
Thankfully, they didn't find any.
The girls thought it was possibly the best night ever and asked if we could do it again another time.
Umm, no. We hopefully will not be watching movies in our driveway in the early hours of the morning again any time soon.
