Stormy weather.

We woke up to dark skies, thunder and rain his morning but the rain only lasted a short time and by late morning it was sunny and beautiful again.

The first thing on the girls' list today was to find their last bracelet for the ScoutAbout scavenger hunt.

They needed to go back and get one bracelet that was misplaced.  They literally ran to this location beside the golf course once they spotted the sign and box.

And then they ran back again proudly wearing their braceletst!

We found the last location beside a channel in the harbor.  The girls were supposed to look for a jumping fish in the area.

While they were looking for a jumping fish in the water, a dolphin came right up to them!  He followed them as they walked back and forth on the bank and kept sticking his head out of the water to look right at them.  It was really amazing!  I've never been so close to a dolphin that wasn't at Sea World.

After the girls collected the last of their bracelets, they went and put their names on certificates to go on the "Wall of Fame" at the kid's club. They were so excited!

Next we went shelling.  It was really windy and the waves were huge but the beach was still beautiful and the storm had brought in piles of shells.  The girls were hoping to find a Junonia shell.  If you find one, you get your picture in the local newspaper!

We spent the rest of the day at the pool.  The girls both entered the limbo contest and Michal won one of the three rounds!

We ended the day at dinner with wonderful friends from home who are staying at the same place we are!

As we sit indoors and watch the cold rain in the Pacific NW this looks mighty good!

  2. We spent a week on Sanibel Island a few years back...took a shelling cruise from Captiva...the beauty is truly indescribable. Love seeing Captiva has come back from the hurricane that hit right after we were there. I feel the need to figure out a way to get back there! I was still shooting with 35mm at the time! Beautiful photography, as always!
