This is the living room.

It has beautiful woodwork and moldings -- even on the ceiling. You can see some of the ceiling detail in the photos below.
The French Oak floors have inlaid detail around the perimeter of the room and a beautiful, hand-scraped finish.
The living room has a squared bay window in the front and two tall windows on another wall. On sunny days the room has beautiful light, which is part of the reason I'm having a hard time choosing window coverings -- I really like all the light in the room and I don't want to cover the window casings.
I adore the paint color -- and I can be kind of finicky about paint. Sometimes the color looks like milk chocolate and sometimes it looks gray. It's a wonderful, ever-changing greyige color and it really looks pretty against the warm white woodwork.
If you don't need window treatments for privacy of light control...I'd leave them alone:) Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the details and can't wait to hear the ideas people have for you and can't wait to see the girls' rooms!
ReplyDeleteDo you know the paint color on your living room walls?

ReplyDeleteI agree with 3 Peanuts. Your room looks just lovely without.
ReplyDeleteIf you must have something to cover those beautiful windows, I would go with something sheer, to let that wonderful light in. And the color of the moldings, so it all blends in.
ReplyDeletehave you thought about shutters? they add privacy when you need them and you can always retract them when light is needed.
ReplyDeletei love the chocolate color of the walls against the white trims and ceiling details
