New York Redeemed.

We spent today in New York City and it was absolutely wonderful. The skies were blue, the sun was out and it was downright warm for the end of February.

We arrived at Grand Central Station and managed to find the Magnolia Bakery in the station less than five minutes after we got there. We each had a pastel-iced cupcake and it somehow made it just feel like New York with the first bite.

We then got in a taxi and headed to Times Square, ate lunch and bought last-minute tickets to see Mary Poppins on Broadway. The theater was absolutely beautiful and the musical was wonderful. We saw it when it was in Chicago but this performance was a little different and there's nothing quite like seeing it in New York City -- even if our seats were in the vertigo-inducing upper balcony!

This is us on the Jumbotron in Times Square.

After the play, we hopped in a taxi and went to FAO Shwartz. We were greeted by a toy soldier and then happily played our way through the store. Another taxi ride, this time along the west side of Central Park, and we arrived at a great Mexican restaurant for dinner.

One last taxi ride back, this time down the east side of Central Park, and we were back to Grand Central Station.

The girls sat together in their own seat on the train ride back to the hotel. Eric and I were cracking up listening to them chat with each other.

At one point Kenna asked Michal, "What was your favorite part of your day?

Without missing a beat, Michal answered, "Mary Poppins!"

Kenna then asked, "And what was your favorite part of Mary Poppins?"

She replied, "My favorite part was the Grand Finale and when Mary Poppins flew and when Bert was tap dancing up the side of the stage."

Kenna then replied, "Those were my favorite parts too!"

And then the conductor arrived and they each handed him their ticket. He punched it multiple times to make a smiley face and then handed it back to them.

In unison they both said, "Wow!" and he literally laughed out loud.

And that summed up our day perfectly.

Wow.
