In praise of swimming pools and chocolate chip pancakes.
As the girls, all bleary-eyed and rumple-haired, ate chocolate chip pancakes in bed this morning, I decided that If you're going to have two children "home" sick, room service and a swimming pool make it much more enjoyable.
I had big plans for our week in New York -- FAO Schwartz, a play on Broadway, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park -- but our week has instead consisted of Max and Ruby, Charlie and Lola and welcome breaks to swim at the pool or walk around outside and get a little fresh air. Michal's fever was back with a vengeance today, so we stuck fairly close to "home" and shelved our big plans for another day.
It's OK though. It's been fun to be with the girls this week without the distraction of school or homework or any other acivities. And I'm crossing my fingers that we might still make it to New York City tomorrow. If not, I won't complain about another day of chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast.
Especially since someone else is making them.

Aww... I hope they feel better soon, but maybe they like to be sick like this. I would love chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast :-)
ReplyDeleteMy children (still) beg for room service and tv hotel time- even when theyre well- best veg out for mama not to be cooking and cleaning too!
ReplyDelete(ps my niece's children are actually named Charlie and Lola, so funny- but not after the show she assures me!)
Oh, I do hope they feel better soon! It sounds like you are making the most of your time away, even with sick girls.
ReplyDeleteLove the Target suits . . . sadly, Adrienne is now 8 and officially out of 5T!

The chocolate chip pancakes sound simply divine. I probably would add whipped cream and sinfully enjoy every bite.
ReplyDeleteHope the girls feel better soon,
ReplyDeleteWas wondering where you were staying as we are planning to go to NY next year!
