Friday Finds {10 Great Bathing Suits for Little Girls}

I don't think anything makes it seem more like warm weather is just around the corner than when bathing suits start appearing in stores.

These are my 10 favorites for little girls so far this season. Michal and Kenna have sadly moved up to "big girl" sizes but I've included one suit that is only available in infant and toddler sizes because it's just so stinking cute!

All of these suits are lined -- a requirement in my opinion -- and most have some sort of UV protection as well. I also really appreciate nice fabric and solid construction since bathing suits are marinated in chlorine, snagged on cool decking and smeared with sunscreen.

1. I adore this ruffled pink one-piece suit from Target. I think it's a more grown-up version of the ubiquitous tutu bathing suits that were so popular during the last couple years. I also love its nod to the 1940s with the rushing and halter-style top.

My girls have this suit and it's super cute on too. And the best part is that it's just $12.99!

Available in sizes XS-XL (4-14).

2. I have always appreciated the great quality of Gymboree bathing suits. They are really well-made and continue to look good even after a summer of wear.

I love this mosaic suit from Gymboree. The blues are gorgeous and I think the bold pattern makes it look modern. There's also a large bow on the back of the suit that sweetens it up a little.

It's $22.95 and comes in sizes 3-12.

3. And speaking of bold patterns, this suit, from Janie and Jack, has sweet ruffle details and a great graphic print in a fabulous and oh-so-trendy orange.

This suit is $30.00 and comes in sizes 0-12.

4. Also from Janie and Jack, this suit is all softness and femininity. The print looks like it was hand painted and reminds me of a suit from the Gap a couple years ago.

This suit is $34.00 and comes in sizes 0-12.

One note about Janie and Jack bathing suits, I've found that they run at least a full size small. The fabric seems to not give quite as much as some other suits and I think that affects the sizing.

5. Pink Chicken is one of my favorite brands for beautiful floral dresses. This suit has lots of big-girl style in a decidedly little-girl owl print.

And that one-shoulder styling is just too cute.

This suit is $52 and is available in sizes 6 months-10.

6. I'm a sucker for a cute tankini and I think this one from Garnett Hill is just adorable. I like the pink print the best but there are lots of cute options.

7. And I love these bikinis from Garnett Hill too. The halter-style top looks like it will stay put and the ruffle-trimmed leg openings are darling.

Both of these suits are $28 and just $22 when you buy two or more. They're available in size 2-14.

8. And this suit? It just makes me smile. It's from Old Navy and it only comes in baby and toddler sizes.

It's $19.50 and comes in sizes 6 months-5T. Old Navy often runs great Baby sales and has lots of online coupons available.

9. You just can't beat Land's End bathing suits for durability. And if they don't hold up, Land's End stands behind them and will replace them for free. Plus, I love how they usually come out with multiple pieces in the same print so you can buy a few pieces and mix them to create different suits.

These are my two favorite suits from Land's End this season. The first one I absolutely adore! It has three pieces that you can mix and match: a bikini top, a bikini bottom and the cutest swim skirt I've ever seen! It comes in three colors but I love the classic navy blue. I think the navy blue with all the ruffles is the perfect combination.

All three pieces come in big girl and little girl sizes.

10. And I think this polka dotted suit is an instant classic. The button details and criss-cross straps are so cute. It has a bikini top, a tankini top, a swim shirt, bikini bottoms and the cutest rushed swim skirt. It comes in multiple colors too.

  1. Great list. We stocked up on several Target suits last week for summer "camp" weeks (so if they get lost it's less traumatic on Mom) and will be buying the "beach" suits through Lands End. Love that you can buy different top/bottom sizes and their one pieces suits hold up fantastic for swim classes. 2. Thanks for the info. I think I'll be heading to Target! I love that first one you posted.

That's too bad about the Janie and Jack sizing--I bought my sister's new baby a suit last August (she was a newborn then) in a 12-month size for this coming summer, and after hearing that they run small, I bet it won't fit now! Aaagh! Too bad--it was on the clearance rack, and was a great deal for the cutest suit in the world.

Just a word to those looking for suits--several years back my sister had 2 from Children's Place for her older daughter and the elastic didn't last for the whole season. The boys' suits didn't have the same elastic, but I'm trying to avoid their girl suits now. :(

Thanks for this list. My daughter is only 16 months - but some of these are great ideas for now and some later.

    Love your taste in clothing!!!
