Hung Bao for School

  1. Love the red envelopes on top. Would you share where you found them?

  2. The girls both picked hung bao envelopes in Chinatown to take to school. Michal picked Hello Kitty hung bao envelopes and Kenna picked ones that had red velvet flocking on the outside -- very fancy. It turns out that those fancy envelopes only have five in a package.

So these were what Kenna took to her class. I bought them at a Chinese grocery store in Lombard. They're not flocked but they are pretty fancy!

  3. Thank you for sharing. We are celebrating this next week at our daughters school. We are not flush with resources in our small town. Have found envelopes with Oriental Trading, but was wanting something different this year.

Have fun with your beautiful daughters and their fancy envelopes.

  4. Many Hallmark stores carry really nice hung bao envelopes. You can also order them from China Sprout. Just put "red envelopes" in the search bar on their site.

What is the name of the store in Lombard? How have I not found it yet? Thanks!

  6. It's called Whole Grain Foods. We always laugh at how close the name is to Whole Foods.

I looked up the address for you and it's actually in Westmont not Lombard. Sorry about that. The address is: 665 Pasquinelli Drive. It's really close to the 83 and Ogden. It's just set back a little from the road. It's a very traditional Chinese grocery -- it smells like China. There's also a Chinese restaurant in the same center that serves pretty good dim sum!
