October 31, 2010

This morning Kenna and Michal were ready to put on their costumes at 8:30 a.m. They actually were up at 7:30 a.m. because, they told me, they made sure to get up early because, "It's Halloween!"

Trick-or-treating begins here at 3:30 p.m.

Kenna's first question, after learning that she had to wait to go trick-or-treating was, "How many minutes are there between 8:30 and 3:30?"

The answer is 420, just in case you're wondering.

By 1:45 p.m. they couldn't stand waiting anymore so I painted their nails. Michal picked purple to match her Renaissance Princess gown and Kenna picked blue to go with her angel dress. Next came curls and an updo for Michal and curls with her hair all down for Kenna. They both got eyeshadow and lip gloss -- the very best part in their opinion -- and it was all topped off with a cough-inducing cloud of glitter spray.

Then it was time for costumes and accessories. A purple and gold velvet gown for Michal, topped off with a headband and veil, vintage earrings and a matching vintage brooch.

A white feather-trimmed gown with white feathery wings, a white marabou feather halo and vintage earrings for Kenna. I'm still finding feathers in the house, in the yard and in the car.

A few trick-or-treaters made it to our door before we could leave so the girls passed out candy before we left.

They now consider themselves old pros at this trick-or-treating thing and left us standing at the bottom of each driveway waving to our neighbors while they filled their buckets with loot. I consequently have lots of photos of them from the back.

And the side.

And just a few from the front.

Once we were back home, they became the candy-passer-outers again.

And then we went out to dinner at my favorite restaurant, where it was a really nice surprise that Michal and Kenna's dinners were free since they had on costumes.

It was a Happy Halloween all the way around!

Please tell us where you bought those gorgeous costumes! Thanks. Love the photos.

  2. Kenna's angel costume is from Chasing Fireflies. She was absolutely unwavering in her desire to be an angel from the moment we started talking about costumes. Her halo is from Party City because we all agreed that the one at Chasing Fireflies looks like a rabbit levitating about her head.

Michal picked the Renaissance Princess costume on Chasing Fireflies but I then found a knock off at Home Goods. It even included the headband and veil. Plus, it was only $29!

  3. Beautiful!!! Sounds like they had a great time!!

Are you on FB? If so, we sould friend each other. I post pictures of LiLi on there too.

    Hallo Kristi

I'm Lathi and I'm from Switzerland.
    I'm 20 years old and I'm studying.
I found your blog 1.5 years ago through 3 Peanuts. I have never comment before, this is my first time.
I love your blogs. Your girls are beautiful and funny. I love their dresses. Michal and Kenna are very similar. I can't say who is Michal and who is Kenna. How do you prononce Michal?
I also like your trips specially the trips to Disney. I was in Disney in Paris too and I love it.
My brother and I are also twins.
Kristi, you do a very good job with parenting the girls. You always do funny things with the girls. The girls have a wonderful childhood.
Kristi you remember me a lot of my mom. My mom also did funny things with my brother and me in our childhood. My mom also likes your blog.

( My Englisch isn't very well, because my first language is German. You said in one poste that you have ancestor from Germany. Do you speak German?)

  7. Adorable!!! Isn't Halloween fun? It's such a big event now, I swear when I was a kid it was one evening only. But now Ro and Ree pretty much celebrated all month. It was great!

PS: Lots of cute pics from behind here too. I think they ran all night... I'm thinking next year I'm going to have to hold some candy to get a good front pic. Hee!

  8. You must tell me about glitter spray. That sounds like something we would like at our house. We love all things glittery.

  9. Ahh, glitter spray! K&M get their hair cut at Sweet and Sassy. It's a little girls' salon. And they spray glitter spray on their hair after a haircut. The glitter spray comes in a can, like hair spray, but it leaves a fine mist of silver, gold or rainbow glitter behind. The glitter is super fine and actually looks really pretty. It also brushes right out, much to K&M's dismay.
