Matilda Jane Madness

IMG_1638

It was 8:45 a.m. and two sleepy-eyed, up-too-late little girls and I were standing outside the Matilda Jane warehouse waiting for the doors to the Art Fair to open. Yes, you read that right. We were standing in line to buy clothes -- really, really cute clothes.

It started raining, just a little bit, but I left the umbrella in the car and there was no way I was giving up my place in line to go and get it -- a girl's got her priorities you know! Kenna, always the philosopher, wisely pointed out that it was "just a little rain and nothing to worry about."

The doors opened a little before 9:00 a.m. and the long line of women waiting outside filled the warehouse faster than you could blink. Women were grabbing dresses and t-shirts, skirts and ruffled pants. If I wouldn't have been swept up in the madness of it all, it would have probably been downright hysterical to simply stand back and watch.

By 11:00 a.m., with our Matilda Jane goodies safely stowed in the trunk, the girls and I were at Greek Fest in downtown Fort Wayne. We ate Greek food -- oh, the Greek food! -- watched Greek dancers and the girls rode miniature carnival rides.

After Greek Fest we headed back to the hotel where Eric was waiting for us. Tomorrow we're off to Lake James for a few days.

I can't wait.

  1. Lucky you! I was hoping to attend, but timing was not on my side. Glad you survived the craziness! Happy 4th.

Oh my! I'm just now seeing this and my heart is racing and my mouth is watering just a little bit. Too bad I don't live anywhere near Ft. Wayne so I can't take part. Instead, I shall have to be content buying gently used Matilda Jane on Ebay.

Hey, wait a minute! I do happen to have a sister who lives right in Fort Wayne! Perhaps I can bribe her (she only has boys) to wait in line. Nah... maybe the next big sale will be a very good time to see my sweet nephews.
