It's all about shells.

Our day began on the beach. The sand is beautiful -- powdery and white -- and there are shells everywhere. The girls spent the morning collecting buckets and buckets of them. Kenna has decided that, "Florida is all about shells."

We went to a nearby shopping area for lunch and ice cream and then came back to the pool and the beach, where the girls collected more shells.

The buckets of shells of been banished to the balcony and the I think the "shell smell" has finally left the room. We should be very popular with our fellow passengers on the plane ride home if we put our shell collection in our carry on luggage.

I follow your blog since I have a newly adopted daughter through domestic adoption...and stumbled upon your blog at one time. I live in the North Burbs of Chicago, and at times recognize the places you visit. However, I couldn't believe it when I saw that you and your family are in Longboat Key! I used to go to LBK yearly with my family growing up, and we always stayed at Sand Kay...which is a beautiful resort on the beach. I long to go back there with my own daughter now, since I have such fond memories there. I do remember shopping at St. Armands and getting ice cream at Big Olaf's...yummo! Have a wonderful time making memories with your family!
