Kenna and Michal love to dress up and they both sincerely appreciate anything fancy. They make me smile because they can find the "fancy" in the most mundane things; things that I would never think to appreciate for their "fanciness." They also both really like Fancy Nancy books. (And I really like the Fancy Nancy books too!) So today, in honor of their sixth birthday, we had a purple-and-pink-feathers-and-sparkles-tiaras-and-butterfly-wings-oh-so-posh celebration of all things fancy.
Twelve little girls came today to help Michal and Kenna celebrate . . . and oh did we celebrate.
The girls first stuffed "Posh Puppies" and then decorated t-shirts for their pink poodle friends to wear.

Then we did the limbo and played "Pass the Posh Puppy."

Then it was time to get fancy -- very, very fancy. The girls got glitter in their hair and sparkly stars on their cheeks. Then they each got their very own hot pink tutu and butterfly wings to wear.

Next we headed to the King's Crown -- better known as our dining room -- to make parfaits (that's a fancy word for ice cream sundaes!) and eat cupcakes. Once at their place each girl added necklaces, gloves, a tiara and a feather boa to their fancy attire. The girls then had their choice of pink M&Ms, Oreos, marshmallows, chocolate chips, cherries, rainbow sprinkles, candy crowns, chocolate syrup, caramel syrup and cookies to put on their parfaits. It was so funny because we asked the girls what they wanted on their parfaits so we could get it for them and almost every one of them yelled, "Everything!" Add to that a candy butterfly-topped chocolate cupcake and you've got 14 very sugared-up little girls.

The afternoon ended with a darling concert by Little Miss Ann. There was lots of dancing, singing, jumping and bubble blowing and it was just ridiculously cute to see them all leaping around in their tutus with butterfly wings fluttering behind them.
It couldn't have been a fancier -- or better -- afternoon.
