Oh Alice.

This afternoon the girls were downstairs playing. I called down to let them know it was time for us to go run an errand and they needed to come upstairs.

Michal called back, "Not yet. We're having a stupidest tea party."

To which I replied, "You're having a what?"

This time Kenna answered, "We're having a stupidest tea party."

Not too happy about their choice of words, I went downstairs to find them with their table all set up with tea cups, plates, glasses and silverware. They were both sitting at the table playing tea party, just like they'd said they were.

I asked, "Where did you hear the word 'stupidest?' It's not a very nice word."

In unison they answered, "Alice in Wonderland."

I then started to launch into a you-may-no-longer-watch-Alice-in-Wonderland speech, when it dawned on me what they were trying to say.

"Does Alice have a stupendous tea party?"

"Yes!," they both yelled at the same time.

"OK, so from now on let's use the word 'stupendous,' OK?"

"OK," they both agree.

Ten minutes later, when we're in the car, Kenna asks, "Mom, what does stupidest mean?"

  1. LOL! Awesome moment, I'm glad you recorded it! :)

  2. Cute story. Out of the mouths of babes!
