Bring on the princesses.

It's no secret that Michal and Kenna both really, really like princesses. They like everything about princesses. They like that they're fancy. They like the gowns and the tiaras and anything that sparkles. They like the shoes and the gloves. They like the fancy hair dos. They like dancing like a princess -- slowly -- and singing like a princess -- very quietly.

So this morning we went to a princess breakfast at Ariel's Grotto in California Adventure. Our reservation was before the whole park was even open so it was really fun to walk through the park with no one else around. The breakfast was everything my princess-loving duo could have hoped for. They were greeted by Ariel and then visited at the table by: Cinderella, Snow White, Belle and Jasmine. They got to learn a princess dance with Belle and have their autograph books signed by all the princesses. They loved it.

That breakfast was the highlight of our day . . . until we saw the High School Musical Parade. Now let me preface this by saying that the girls have never seen "High School Musical," or at least they hadn't when we saw the parade. The parade stops on the street and turns into a show. They both loved the music and the dancing and just when it couldn't have gotten any better, the dancers went in to the audience to pick people to come on stage and dance with them. Before I even knew what was happening, Michal's hand shot into the air, one of the dancers picked her, and off she went to the main stage. Kenna's hand went up a couple seconds later but Michal was already, in her words, "a real High School Musical dancer" and poor Kenna was left to just watch. She was an incredibly good sport about it and decided that next time they would pick her.

We all watched "High School Musical 3" in the hotel room that night. Sigh.

My creation

Kenna, looking up adoringly at a princess. Priceless.

This is Michal dancing back to me after her big moment on the stage. She told me she was dancing with her "prince."

There is a Boardwalk section in California Adventure that surrounds a lake. The lake is drained right now so they can install a new laser show. It was kind of neat to see it like this.

Michal, Kenna and Brennan are in the blue animal cookie box at the back of the picture. You can see Brennan's red hat in the corner and a princess crown peeking over the edge of the box.

Michal drawing Grumpy in the Disney Animation Studio. Can you see his nose and his beard?

  1. Never have I seen more beautiful princesses than Michal and Kenna (well KE too).

LOVE that animal cracker ride....so cute!

MOST days I am so content to live where I live, but some days I would love to live closer to one of the Disney parks. Or the beach. Or something else. I guess that's why we go on vacation, huh?
