Find a penny pick it up . . .

Today the girls and I were at a small bakery sharing a scone. We were sitting at a high table with bar stools so the girls had a birds' eye view of the floor. While swinging her legs, turning in her chair and managing to still take bites of our scone, Kenna looked down and saw a penny on the ground.

With a huge smile on her face, she asked, "Mommy, can I have that coin?" I told her she could so she climbed down, picked up the penny and then announced to anyone who might possibly be listening, "Today is my lucky day!"

Michal spent the rest of the time in the bakery looking across the floor for anything that might even slightly resemble a coin. She then kept up her coin hunt for the duration of our walk back to the parking lot. When we got to the car, and she still hadn't found anything, she looked up at me and said, "How about you just drop a coin on the ground and I'll pick it up?

  1. I sure hope you did! Everyone needs a lucky day for sure.

  2. That is a lucky day for Kenna! That Michal is a smart little thing...making her own "luck". :-)

  3. What a lucky day! Great photos!

  4. don't they say the funniest things at five? on the way out to the grocery store, my daughter told me that she need it her purse and money. she cried out loud to me: but mommy, I have to have it. she is only three!

    Love the pics!

  5. I just caught up with February. My son Jonah has been wearing a cape nonstop for 4 months if he can't find an actual cape pretty much any blanket will do. Amanda's preschool assistant director even made him a cape. After he put 5 holes in it at the playground we reserve that on for his "good cape" not the "play cape"...

  6. Smart girl.... If luck doesn't find you.... create your own. She'll be successful in life!!

  7. That was cute... I hope they both have many more lucky days to come!
