Breakfast by Dad.

IMG_3854

Most Saturday mornings Eric makes waffles for breakfast. He lets the girls choose what they'd like on top of their waffles and you can pretty much guarantee that they're going to ask for chocolate chips, M&Ms or chocolate-covered sunflower seeds . . . and whipped cream.

This morning Eric told them we didn't have chocolate chips or M&Ms. I suggested chocolate-covered sunflower seeds but Kenna had a different idea.

"I know. Why don't you break Girl Scout cookies into little, tiny pieces and put them on the waffles?"

So, with the whack of a rolling pin on a cookie-filled Ziploc bag, the Thin Mint waffle was born. And Michal declared she wanted to be a Girl Scout.

Smart girl.

  2. Michelle,

I get the chocolate-covered sunflower seeds at Trader Joe's. They're awesome and all natural -- even the coating has no food coloring in it.

I can get M&K to eat most things with the promise of a couple sunflower seeds when they're finished. :)

Do you have Trader Joe's in your area?

BTW, I thought of you last weekend when we were in the strip district in the 'Burgh. There is a fabulous fabric store!

    Thanks for the info!

  12. Alright!!

TubaDad and the girls are the wafflemakers in our house too (not me, thank goodness). I'll have to show them this post, because the fanciest they've ever gotten is raspberries and chocolate chips. I think it's time to branch out, whoohooooo!
