When we moved to Chicago, I bought my first real winter coat and a pair of gloves. Eric bought a snow blower. We learned about things like driveway salt and preventing pipes from freezing.
We actually got off pretty easy our first few winters here. We got very little snow and it was never that cold, relatively speaking of course.
But this winter, oh this winter!, everything is different. We got more snow in December than we usually get during the entire winter. And it's been cold. It's been unbelievably, unbearably, just-plain-miserably cold. It's been cold enough that schools have cancelled classes and sub-zero temperatures have lingered for days.
Every single time that the sun comes out Michal asks me hopefully if it's summer yet. Oh how I wish I could tell her, "yes." But there is no sign of summer any time soon. But hey, we are having a heat wave. Today the high is four degrees.
Brrrrr!! Even though it's cold, your photos are beautiful -- the colors just pop! Hoping for warmer days soon!

UGH! 4 degrees? Now that IS a heat wave. :-) Believe it or not, last Friday, it was 7 degrees in our neck of the woods. It NEVER gets that cold here. EVER. The weather is crazy these days.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Michal, I'm ready for warm weather! Come on spring!
ReplyDeleteI met you this summer at Ella's birthday party. I am the one that lives in Arizona. I don't think I would want to be back in Chicago now but I would like it to be a bit cooler here. My daughter comes home from school singing about snowflakes in January when it was 82 degrees here. Keep warm and if possible send a little our way.

ReplyDeleteOh my word...I love Chicago but I am not sure I could make it through those winters. Come here...we'd love to have you. It was 76 degrees today and that is the predicted high for tomorrow as well.

It's cold down south for sure! We just had our first snow in 6 years! Granted, it was only a few inches and it melted in a day.. Hope y'all thaw out soon.
