A little girly birthday goodness.

Today is my birthday.

The official birthday rule in this house is that on your birthday you can do anything you want and, conveniently, you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. (This includes cooking or trying to cajole children into eating fruits, vegetables or anything else that is good for them.)

So this morning Eric made me breakfast and then I mentioned that I'd like to go get a pedicure. I happened to make this request in front of the girls. I instantly had two little people who wanted to join me for birthday fun at the "fancy nail salon." Eric tried to suggest that I was going alone but Michal and Kenna already had their coats on and were waiting at the back door . . .

So, we all went to the nail salon.

The girls got manicures. I got a pedicure. Eric got a kick out of watching the whole thing.

Michal and Kenna ask a lot of questions. They can actually think up questions faster than you can even give them an answer. The people at the "fancy nail salon" learned just how many questions they both can ask. They also learned just how many songs they can sing. My favorite was "Happy Birthday to You."

Thank you girls. It was a very happy birthday indeed.
