It's almost the Year of the Rat. Let the celebration begin.

Tonight we went to a Chinese New Year party in China Town. The girls had a blast! On our drive home they excitedly told me they liked playing the drum and the cymbals, dancing on the stage, making the scratch-the-dragon craft, putting dragon tattoos on their hands, wearing the dragon costume, throwing balloons into the air and cracking open their fortune cookies. Whew! That's a lot to like about one night.

And also on our drive home we had this conversation:

Kenna: "Mommy, get my hair out of my mouth please."

Me: "Honey, I'm driving and I can't turn around and get your hair out of your mouth. Take off your mittens and you'll be able to do it yourself."

Kenna: "Oh, it's OK. I just opened my mouth and swallowed it."

Me: "You swallowed a hair?"

Michal: "Honey, we don't eat hair. We only eat food. And there's no screaming or yelling in the car but you can talk as much as you want."

Hmmm . . . it's nice to know she's got those hair-eating and yelling-in-the-car rules down.

Michal has on the red dress and Kenna's is blue. In the dragon picture above Michal is just in front of the little girl with the ripped tights and Kenna is in the middle clutching her balloon.
