Happy Earth Day!

We went to the zoo today with some friends. I think everyone else in the entire Chicago metropolitan area had the exact same idea because the zoo was oh so crowded! It felt a little bit like being at Disney World, without Mickey Mouse!

The zoo had lots of Earth Day activities and lots of new baby animals including a new baby polar bear and a baby giraffe. The highlights for the girls though were drinking from the drinking fountain, riding the carousel and taking turns pushing the two other girls in a single stroller.

All in all it was a great day with great friends.

While you're thinking about it, in honor of Earth Day, go replace one of your incandescent lightbulbs with a compact fluorescent light bulb. They last longer than typical incandescent light bulbs, and use less energy. Did you know that if every household in the U.S. replaced one light bulb -- just one! -- with a CFL, it would prevent enough pollution to equal removing one million cars from the road? Plus, you'll save at least $30 in energy costs over the life of the bulb.

Happy Earth Day!
