There went Peter Cottontail . . .

Today we went to an Easter egg hunt.

The big event was supposed to start at 3:30 p.m. and somehow we ended up leaving our house a little later than planned -- imagine that! We pulled into the parking lot at 3:28 p.m. -- just in time to see a gaggle of little kids run as fast as they could to go find Easter eggs. I swear the whole thing was over before we even got to a parking space.

Not one to give up easily, I handed each of the girls a basket anyway and we went over to the stripped-bare egg hunting grounds. There were no eggs to be found, but our neighbors, twin six-year old little girls, took pity on Michal and Kenna's empty baskets and gave them each a few eggs. Since the girls have never been to an Easter egg hunt before, they may think that you just stand there holding your basket and people come by and drop eggs in it!

Parenting lesson # 312 -- Arrive for Easter egg hunts more than two minutes before the appointed starting time.
