The Official Red Couch Photo and First Time Swimming

Well, we have been officially initiated! Last night Michal woke up at 1:00 a.m. and cried until 4:00 a.m. Eric and I both tried everything we could think of to get her back to sleep but none of it worked. She finally fell asleep in my arms and then I was stuck because every time I moved even an inch, she would wake up again and scream. So, I was sitting in a chair, in the pitch dark, trying to figure out how to get her into her crib. I got the bright idea to slither down on to the floor hoping I could then make it over to her crib without waking her. We had moved her crib to the living room and the cribs we have are really low so it's actually easier to get to the crib from a lower position . . . or at least that was my 5:00 a.m. bleary-eyed thinking. But, once I was on the floor I was really stuck plus I now didn't have anything to lean against and I couldn't get back up from a seated position with her in my arms without really jostling her. So, I sat in the middle of the room like that for more than an hour until Eric came out to see why I hadn't come back to bed since the crying had stopped. He was able to help me lower her onto a towel on the floor where she slept for the rest of the night. Needless to say we're both really, really tired today.

This morning our travel group of eight families met to have our official "Red Couch Photo" taken. For those who haven't been following along, at the White Swan Hotel there are red velvet couches in the lobbies and for years and years and years families have been posing their newly-adopted children with the children of those they've traveled to China with.

You can imagine the scene that results when 16 parents are trying to get nine babies to sit still, not cry, not fall over or off the couch and simultaneously take pictures and video. I've included a series of this morning's shot just because they're so darn funny!

The girls went swimming today at the White Swan. They were a little apprehensive at first but really liked it once they were in the pool for awhile.
